4 men face federal white collar crime charges in another state

Working in an Illinois post office can be quite stressful; yet, many find the work satisfying. Postal customers, however, tend to get very upset if a piece of mail they're expecting never arrives. In some situations, a clerical mistake or delivery error is found to have been the case. Other times, white collar crime may be suspected.

Four men working in a post office in another state have been indicted at both state and federal levels regarding allegations of mail theft. One of the men is accused of stealing checks from the mail. He reportedly then committed forgery and signed the checks over to the three other men, now co-defendants in the case.

Authorities say some of the stolen checks were from a particular company's payroll and amounted to approximately $16,000. The accused men were allegedly successful in cashing and/or depositing all but one check. The four now face 15 charges in a federal criminal court.

They have been accused of bank fraud, aggravated identity theft and other white collar crime offenses. Many Illinois defense attorneys have experience addressing such situations at the federal level. Skilled representation is often key to a successful outcome. It's definitely no small matter to be accused of a federal crime, and someone facing such charges stands to spend a lot of time behind bars if convicted, as well as incur hefty financial penalties. A criminal lawyer can keep the focus on protecting the rights of the client while pursuing the most favorable result possible under the circumstances.
