Murder charges lead to $3 million bond in Illinois

The holiday season included a drastic turn of events for one 37-year-old man in Illinois. Rather than celebrating with family and friends, he is now sitting behind bars on a $3 million bond. The bond was set by a Lake County Judge in connection with murder charges that have been filed against the man.

He is accused of shooting another man to death. Authorities say he left the alleged victim flopped behind the wheel of a car. The 30-year-old who died was apparently shot by a single bullet that appears to have traveled through his arm to his chest. He was found at approximately 11:30 p.m. on a recent Friday.

The reported fatal gun attack occurred just two days before Christmas. The man charged with murder is slated to return to court in January 2017. The bond hearing was held on a recent Wednesday.

Facing murder charges in Illinois is obviously a serious matter. If convicted, a person may be sentenced to prison for a long time. In addition to the negative impact such a crime would have on someone's record, this type of situation usually has adverse effects that are far reaching and long-lasting. For this and many other reasons, it is often best to allow an experienced defense attorney to speak on one's behalf in all official matters related to a particular situation. The burden of proof is not on the accused man to prove his innocence; rather, the prosecution must prove each and every element of the crime/s charged in court and beyond a reasonable doubt.
