Halloween night in Illinois ends with murder charges

Many people in Illinois and throughout the nation recently took part in various festivities and celebrations related to the Halloween holiday. In years past, there have been many eerie stories surrounding the holiday, including some that are quite disturbing, especially those involving violent crimes. This year appears to be no different, as one man now faces murder charges for something he is accused of doing on Halloween night.

The 43-year-old man is from Christopher, and he has been accused of killing his own wife at some point during the evening of Halloween. Local police officers responded to an urgent 911 call that led them to the man's residence. Upon arrival, they found a 37-year-old woman who had apparently suffered a gunshot wound.

Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was charged the following day on two separate counts of first-degree murder. The widower is currently being held in a county jail with a bond set at $2 million.

It is most likely not the last Halloween night in Illinois that will lead to murder charges or other violent crime accusations. Any person accused of a serious crime is able to seek help by retaining the assistance of an experienced criminal lawyer. By building as strong a defense as possible, some defendants have actually been able to avoid convictions, while others have at least successfully sought less harsh sentences than those they may have faced for their particular situations. Either way, obtaining skilled and aggressive assistance often helps obtain as positive an outcome as possible in court.
