Meczyk Goldberg represented Mr. Silva after he was arrested in Cicero, Illinois for domestic battery of a child. Following the arrest, the police alleged that Mr. Silva confessed to the crime. Meczyk Goldberg moved to suppress the confession based on the illegality of the arrest. The Court suppressed the confession holding that, because the arrest was warrantless and without probable cause, the subsequent confession was inadmissible. The prosecution proceeded to trial and Mr. Silva was found not guilty.
