At his first trial in 2004, Mr. Figueroa was charged and convicted of first degree murder. However, Mr. Meczyk and Mr. Goldberg, continued to fight for their client. After a successful appeal, a new trial was ordered. This time, Mr. Figueroa was found not guilty. Due to the relentless efforts of Meczyk Goldberg, Mr. Figueroa, after spending almost eight years in prison, left the courthouse a free man.
Mr. Mecyzk has tried over 125 jury trials to verdict. He has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, and he has appeared in nearly every U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
